Party wall awards and building disputes

Kent based party wall disputes

Since the Party Wall Etc. Act 1996 came into force homeowners in England and Wales have to abide by the Act when building work involves a party wall or party fence wall, excavations close to the neighbouring buildings and new walls at boundaries.
The Act is designed to avoid or minimise disputes by making sure property owners notify their neighbours in advance of these works.

As Party Wall Surveyors we can prepare the relevant Notices and serve these on the appropriate Owners, prepare Party Wall Awards and Schedules of Condition.
As Party Wall Surveyors we will act impartially to regulate matters.

Building work close to a neighbouring property is sometimes also affected by this area of Legislation.

This work has a quais legal background, but also relies heavily upon a good understanding of surveying and building techniques and consequently is ideally suited to the Surveyors area of experience and training.

In this manner disputes can often be ‘nipped in the bud’ and in many cases where surveyors are appointed formally they have powers to draft Awards which are fully enforceable through the courts.

Such work bysurveyors can very often avoid the need for lawyers to become involved.
